Pint from the Market Porter. Mahogany colour, this beer has a bit of haze. Half a finger head, good retention. Wheaty taste, some smoke comes through in the after taste. Smooth mouthfull, decent bitter, it’s possible to drink a few in a session.

Cask, gravity at Chadlington Beer Festival, Chadlington Village Hall, Oxon, 05-06-10 Pours hazy amber with clear white bubbles at the edge. Fruity aroma with some stewed plums showing. This is fruity and tangy stuff, bit rustic to put it politely, light bitterness, interesting and I’m sure that it has a certain charm though I’m not sure that I ever quite discovered it. Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small off white head. Aroma was smooth and creamy with a hint of buttery toffee. Taste was rather buttery caramel malt. Mid bitter finish. Not sure about this one.

Bottle. Dark amber brown with a cream foam. Aromas are toffee and berries with some roast character. Flavours are malty with weetabix and a light roast bitterness. Some hints of berry and fairly vinous with grapefruit towards the finish. OK.
