2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7473) - Banbury, - JUL 10, 2006
Cask conditioned at Merton Summer Beer Festival 06. Amber beer with light head. There is no word of a lie in the title of the beer, I couldn’t detect it, dry and very bitter on the palate the beer has a rather stewed note to it something akin to overbrewed tea or brilliantly as I heard, boiled nettles. Basic and flawed.

Bottle. exploded out of the bottle even though I took care in handling it. Massive head on pouring. Once this settled down it wasn’t too bad. Slightly hoppy and left some sediment. Might try it in cask form but never from a bottle again.

Cask at Merton Beer Festival July 7th, 8th 2006. Amber coloured with a slight haze under a small frothy head, a slight sulphuryness on the nose overpowered any of the those mystery hops. As DJMonarch quite astutely noticed, I heard a couple of people mention ’I can taste a bit of whisky’ well I don’t much like whisky and I didn’t much like this dissapointing bitter and uninspiring beer.

Cask Handpump at the Star Inn, Huddersfield 26/07/2003
Amber golden colour fruity and hoppy. A hint of whisky and a full malt finish.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2004
Deepish amber colour. Whatever the secret hop is, its impact is quite restrained. Slightly spicy and tangy, but dry roasted malt dominates this beer. Quite pleasant, but rather rustic and not too refined. Cask, London Drinker beer festival.
