Costa Rica’s Wheat Beer With Cas

After a couple pf pints of this seasonal I vowed to put a serious personal dent in local availability. I have been true to my word. Cloudy pale yellow beer and what I like to imagine is a faint greenish tint. In the nose, yeasty esters are there but subdued, with a note of lemon zest and bubble gum when fresh. Zesty earthy cas aroma is unmistakable but subdued... Easy to find but not as strong as a fresco from a roadside soda. Lightly sweet beer balanced by a citric, acidic touch and only light bitterness to give it structure. That tart touch gives it real character, but meanwhile there is nothing to get in the way of drinking a large amount of this. Interestingly, the cas character shows up most prominently in the satisfying belches afterward. Now, that smells like the roadside soda.

draft. tart, dry and mild, the cas guava character is is naturally acidic and works well with the yeast esters, and the wheat and pale malt bring in a light sweetness. exquisitely inviting nose, refreshing acid and a firm but light body. lovely.
