1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 bkurtz (462) - PERU - MAR 21, 2009
Poured pale yellow with a smallish head. Light, with very little flavor. Typical mass produced Latin American beer. A shame.

I like to think of this as a cheap knock-off of Red Stripe. It has the same sort of bottle, same Caribbean marketing idea....but just doesn’t taste the same. It is popular though, and I found it everywhere I went in Colombia. I found the taste to be a bit overwhelming...a little skunky....just not enjoyable. Not terrible, but I didn’t really enjoy drinking it. I’d rather stick to aquardiente.......

Canned. Thanks Mechas. A pale lager with a thin foam that goes quickly, weak arom of malt, some bitternes but too weak, just refreshing nothing more.

Can. Pours a light golden-yellow body with a rather large frothy white head. Decent retention. Doesn’t actually look TOO bad for a pale lager. Smells like hay, lots of corn husks, and sweet wort. Very light flavour that’s actually a little better than what I gathered from the aroma. Sweet cornbread, watery grains, and otherwise uneventful. Borderline offensive.
Thanks to my parents for bringing this back for me from their recent trip to Colombia.

Watery beer, with almost no taste at all, no aroma no head retention, low carbonation with just a little of bitterness.

Pale yellow in colour, large white head, good retention, some lacing, lots of visible carbonation. The aroma is quite putrid actually, very off putting, lots of grains, very sweet, pale malts. The only thing not here was the surprising lack of corn. The flavour thankfully wasn’t nearly as revolting as the aroma, the corn is there but not overpowering, crisp but far from clean, skunky. Watery mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes quick, watery and bland. This is pretty bad stuff, no redeeming qualities what-so-ever.
