(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of yngwie. Slightly hazy, orangey brown with an off-white head leaving some laces. Somewhat fat, malty aroma with a whiff of nuts. Medium body, dry nutty malt and a rather hoppy finish. Quite decent. 180807

Bottle. Clear, copper pour, with a beige head. Malt, toffee, some chocolate, nuttyness and a biscuity touch in the aroma. The flavor is roasted, with some toffee, a wee note of chocolate, some nuttyness and a some biscuit-like flavors. Medium body. Dry, lightly hoppy finish with malt dominating. A nice one, it lead my thoughts to a nice mild. (070704)

Bottle 500ml from Waitrose, Lymington, Hampshire. Pours a copper colour with a thin tan head. Quite a sweet fruity aroma greeted me on opening the bottle. The flavour, however, was full on sweet sherry. Why? If I wanted a sherry, I’d have poured one! Not particularly smooth on the palate. A bit of a let down, really.

A Mes rate: Gravicask at Kent Beer Festival. Looking at the other rates by people whom I often share an opinion I can only summise this was in poor form. Nutty, very mellow and rather bland with some tea to round it off. Not my thing at all.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2008 500ml bottle from Waitrose. Copper coloured with a peaky off-white head; stewed fruit aroma; slightly sour at first then developing a rounded caramel body; harsh bitter finish. Rather unrounded.

Brown colour and a little cloudy. Plummy caramel. Grassy earthy hops. Gentle hop bitterness. Long lasting hop flavours and bitterness. Cacao flavours. A bit sharp on the palate with some rough edges. Unpleasant aftertaste with some rather harsh hop flavours for the style.
