Tasting notes from 2002 Harbury beer festival. Dark amber with thin head. Carmel malt, fruit, and mildly hopped aroma. Farily balanced and full bodied. Hoppy front with malt body. Decent session bitter.

50 cl bottle. Copper color - nice, fast vanishing beige head. Sweet roasted malt, caramel. Fine bitterness. A bit thin, but a very good «low-alcohol» ale.

500ml bottle. Murky brown-burgundy with a soapy off-white/beige head. Smooth malty aroma, light caramel notes. Mellow carbonation. I can see how this could be an insipid beer to a Brit, but it’s rather refreshing to my current Midwest-influenced palate. Smooth malty tones, caramel, amber malt. Butterscotch, fishy. Not exactly World Class but I can dig it.

Brown colour and a little cloudy. Plummy caramel. Grassy earthy hops. Gentle hop bitterness. Long lasting hop flavours and bitterness. Cacao flavours. A bit sharp on the palate with some rough edges. Unpleasant aftertaste with some rather harsh hop flavours for the style.

Bottled (thanks to the craziest bartender around). Amber colour with mediumsized slightly off-white creamy head. Aroma is fruity, flowery, a bit nutty as well as some wooden notes. Mild caramel malty sweetness as well. Flavour is very much the same in a nice balance. Quite grassy and flowery aftertaste and finish. More like a bitter than an ESB.
