2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jackl (2509) - London, Greater London, - OCT 31, 2012Cask @ JDW, Victoria Station. The pour’s deep amber with a tiny white head. The nose is of brown bread, some twig, sweet nutty malts and shoe polish. The taste is mildly astringent toffee, twig, more sweet chewy malts. Mildly grassy finish. A bit pissy, some lemon peel and red apple. Light body, soft carbonation. Overall, this tasted a bit cheap and harsh. This isn’t a beer I’d quickly return to.

Cask handpull, The Felix (JDW), Nuneaton, 13/11/12. Slim-lidded, slightly misted bronze. Oddly dank aniseed aroma with toffee. The not-especially-enticing dankness continues on the palate which softens into more pleasant cream and digestive biscuit. Cannot believe the hops are Aussie.
