2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, - MAY 24, 2011
Cask - The Glass House (JDW), Norwich. Small, mostly lasting off-white hea; deep chestnut brown body. Malty sweet aroma but otherwise a predominant yeasty, earthy character running throughout with a muted roastiness towards the back end. The roast & yeast combo lend a dryness to the palate with an muted but OK length malt bitter finish. Light to medium body, soft carbonation - a bit empty in the mouth really.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 24, 2011
First tried this at the Paisley Beer Festival in May 1995. Cask, gravity dispense. Dull mahogany in colour with a thin buff head. Slight roast malt in the short aroma. Thin oily mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malts give a roasted nutty flavour which fades to give a sweet chocolate and caramel taste. Sharp prickle of dry dusty hops present in the short aftertaste. Smooth nuttela texture in the wood smoke finish. A decent session mild.

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. An attractive reddish tawny colour with a dense tan head; aroma of mollasses and nutty roasted malts; rather thin in the mouth, with some weak red fruit, and a dry smoky, woody, body; leading to some coffee grounds and a dry tingly bitter finish. Unusual and surprisingly good.

Cask conditioned handpump Cordwainer Northampton. A hazy nut brown coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. Good chocolate malt notes in the aroma with some nuts. Similar in the mouth where the nuttiness is particularly good. Has a longer finish than you’d expect from a 3.4% mild. Tasty.
