Bottle sampled from Gouda Winterbier festival. I also think it was off. Almost no carbonation. Clear burgundy pour. Drain pour.

Bottle sampled at Gouda Winterbier festival. It must have been off given other reviews. Pours clear brown with a small tan head. Aroma of chlorine, garbage and damp with a flavour just as bad. Drain poured before analyzing any further. Truly dreadful.

1/2 at the Tilley Stone Gateshead. Brown with a thin white head. Almond toffee aroma. Spruce, mild spice, and brown sugar flavours with a briny seaside note. Medium bodied, low carbonation. Pleasant.

Simply quaffable. Straight forward winter bitter. Dark and malty, slight vinous depth, figs and a little bit of smokiness. Could be a Christmas session beer.

Cask by handpump at Hengler’s Circus, Glasgow - clear red brown, creamy beige head, roasted malt and fruity aroma, chocolate, toffee, bit of fruit, watery, prolonged chocolatey aftertaste

Excellent winter ale, full of fruits with a full bodied texture that is perfect for the season. Is deep copper in its colour with a small creamy head. Has a rich malty fruit nose, but also a nutty one, and the nuts linger for the aftertaste.

Bottle. Nasty. Maybe a bad one. Pours totally flat murky brown. Aroma is some malt and old leaves. Taste is unpleasant sourness Must have been a rogue bottle but judging by other reviews I am not alone.

[500ml bottle, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh] Copper coloured pour, decent white head. Aroma slightly earthy, but plenty of toffee and fruit. A touch smoky on the palate, but mostly chocolate malt and fruit – not as thick and heavy as I was expecting. Some roast on the end – decent enough [15122011]

Bottle from the Bitter End Offie, Bromley. As flat as ancient man’s view of the world pour, murky copper colour. Raisin, dark fruit, dates and some chocolate aroma. Chocolate, licorice and some coffee flavours. Tastes a bit odd. Nutty-malty aftertaste. Nasty. Need to try this again just in case I got hold of a dodgy bottle.
