COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask & Bottled; Regular
Produced since 1979, Tawny Bitter has become one of the most popular beers in the West Country. Brewed using Devon pale and crystal malted barley and Herefordshire hops, Tawny is a distinctive well balanced best bitter with a subtle hop palate which blends with the sweetness of the malt. Tawny has been a finalist in the Champion Beer of Britain Competition, and is a two-time Good Beer Guide "Beer of the Year".

Amber colour with decent white head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Surprsingly hoppy, especially in the finish. Notes of grass and caramel. Had it too long ago to really remember the finer points. One of my favourite bitters though. Also, owls are cool.

Cask at the Anchor, Digbeth, Birmingham. Poured a hazy medium amber with a thin broken white head. The aroma is malt light hop resin. The flavour is medium to light bitter with a watery light hop slightly floral palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle, 500ml. A copper colour with no head. A slightly nutty aroma with a hint of floral hops. Flavour is quite malty and nutty with light carbonation, mouthfeel is a little watery. Minimal bitterness in the finish, making this very drinkable but nothing special.

Bottle. Hazy amber ale with a lovely full orange citrus flavour to it. Next to no head with a lovely easy drinking texture.

Bottle. Light toffee malt aroma. Cloudy amber with small head. Mildly sweet toffee malt flavor. Not bad.

My Bottom Line:
Stone dust sticks to floral honey in this oily Bitter colored by orange-y fruitiness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slice of foam tops the clear amber.
-Hops are overcome by that mineral dustiness (hard water?).
-The mouthfeel is still slick enough to make the flavour profile easy drinking.
-Light malt toastiness is found as well.

On cask at The Garrick’s Head, Bath.

Cask by handpump at Three Judges, Glasgow - very deep golden, bubbly off-white head, toffee/caramel malt aroma, toffee, sweet, moderate carbonation, good temperature, easy to drink

16.9oz bottle 8/9/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-44° in English Pint-Pours a hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of fruits, hops, and malt. Taste of the same with a bit of grains. This light bodied brew is not bad.

I've explored all the imperials, doubles, triples and quads. I want to know more about sessionable ales and this one is a great example. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Taster from bottle at Binny’s, Downers Grove. Fruity smell, nice amber color, a bit cloudy. Large bit of foam from this tiny sample. Taste again is fruity. Very nice, about all I can say about it. Excellent version of this style, why I’m rating it up.
