We use only the very best ingredients available, like the finest Liberty and Hersbrucker Hops and carefully selected Maris Otter Malt. That helps. Our brewing practices are inspired by the German Purity Law of 1527. That also has its merits, adding to the exquisitely crisp and refreshing taste. But there’s more to it than that – we are passionate about beer. So much so that we changed our lives to follow our hearts, and every beer we produce embodies that passion and commitment. It’s the extra ingredient that makes all the difference. Who’d have thought it, money really can buy you love. Serve chilled and enjoy.

Not only is this the best British lager I have tasted, but it’s one of the best lagers I’ve ever tasted. Glad to see that someone is trying to set new much higher standards in this country. Well done.

Tap at the Cheese Festival in Cheltenham. Nice cap of white on a light gold pour. Very delicate aroma, light herbal hops. Earthy, toasty quality with a mineral hop finish. A clean, pleasant, easy drinking lager with lots of flavor. Served a little too cold (in my opinion) even for a lager, but quite good. I’m actually really happy to see Richard doing what he is doing with Cotswold: experimenting with traditionally German styles using British ingredients. I’m excited to see what he tries next.

Had this at the National Cheese Festival, Montpellier, Cheltenham, 30-09-06. A light golden appearance, very crisp and refreshing with hoppy notes and some citrus tangs to it, quite dry and all in all not bad at all.

A pint poured at The White Horse on Parsons Green (London), a pale yellow with some carbonation and a filmy head. A clean and crisp hoppy aroma. A smooth palate at first with a light dry and bitter finish. Quite a flowery flavour for a lager, with definite hints of honey and some tart fruit. Maybe a bit too sweet, but a lager I would happily drink (and there isn’t many).

Keg at The Kings Head, Fritwell. Pale gold, highly carbonated, white head. Very flavoursome lager, it is a sharp orange / lemon hoppy lager, crisp with a dryness not found in many English lagers. Good malt bite with some biscuit notes though there is a cereal note with a little farminess. A very good attemt at a commercial lager for a small Brewer, better than many.

UPDATED: DEC 12, 2005 decent attempt for a microbrewer to do a commercial german type pilsner. as an alternative new brewery to cask conditioned ales, I wish Richard Keene and his small team good luck in their new venture
