Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Brown amber with white soapy head. Sweetish malty beer dominated by a harsh alcoholic note throughout. Sweet toffee caramel notes with hints of spicy hops, but the alcohol burn is all you get left with.

Cask@Angleterre, Helsinki. Deep coppery brown colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is liquorice, floral hops, some honey and mild syrup along with some slight notes of nuttyness. Flavour is rather similar, but also has some hints of alcohol and dark fruityness as well. Still a pleasant winter warmer.

(Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki) The beer poured deep dark brown and clear. Its head was medium sized, dense, long lasting and very lightly brown. Aroma had roastedness, herbalness and a little bit of molasses. Palate was medium bodied. Flavours were malts, roastedness, herbalness, mildly sweetness, hops and bitterness. Afteraste was malty, hoppy and bitter. A nice, tasty and conveniently edgy beer.

Cask. Hazy ruby colour, creamy head. Dark caramel malts, biscuits, slightly toasty. Fruity yeast aromas. Herbal hop notes. Light nuttiness in the finish. Balanced bitterness. Medium body, slick texture. Nice beer.

On gravity at the Old Tavern, Bristol 23/2/08. The label on the barrel said 5.7% rather than 5% as advertised by the brewery. This was dark brown with red hints and a decent tan head. Big aroma of raisins, almonds, cinnamon and earthy hops. The flavour had some toffee, licorice, more fruit and a decent dry finish. Very good.

Cask conditioned gravity dispense at Merton Winter Beer Festival 16-02-07. Poured brown in colour with medium head. Some sweetish malty notes, taste was really quite pleasant some liqourice, toffee and the malts once again pushing through, didn’t get the alcohol burn that Glenn describes if anything I was a little suprised with the strength as I felt that it drank a lot easier than a beer of this strength normally would and tasted more like a session beer. Very good beer.
