COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - brewed February.
A wholesome stout with a rich complexity of flavours. This special ale has a mild taste of coffee on the palate, a smooth finish with a fruity aftertaste.

Cask (gravity) at the Hop Pole Easter beer festival 2009, Aylesbury. Quite dark but not quite black. Ruby tint. Fairly roasty aroma. Smooth mouthfeel. Some burnt bitterness. Finishes dry with touch of sharp hop bite. Described on the festival programme as a milk stout but I didn’t pick up any of the sweetish notes characteristic of that style. Very tasty.

Cask-conditioned at the New Inn, Mayshill, S Gloucestershire 28/04/09. Opaque, inky black with a tight, off-white head that left lacing down the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, liquorice and dark chocolate. Chunky mouth feel yet easy drinking, with plenty more roastiness, chocolate and dark fruit, and a lingering bitter finish. Would agree that any reference to milk stout looks odd - the pump clip in a pub a few miles from the brewery certainly didn’t do so. A great stout.
