Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Brown amber with white head. Another fairly average beer from Cottage, they are definitely falling into the same trap as Archers. Perfumed, bitter, dry beer but fairly plain and basically dull. A touch of soapiness on the finish.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2011 Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton- this version 3.9%. Pale chestnut with a faint mistiness at the edges, tight white collar. Orange jelly peppered with ground coriander seed aroma. Sourish redcurrant and peppery orange fruit, wheat-based biscuit, earth, dab of cinnamon, light Flemish splashes. Creamy afters with hints of milk chocolate and hazelnut. Decent, but like most of Cottage’s output I wouldn’t want another pint.

Cask handpull at Lower Red Lion, St Albans. Deep chestnut colour with lasting beige head. Bit of vinegar maybe. Dullish. Some dull malt, bit of plum fruit, some dryness on finish.
