Half-pint, handpulled from cask@White Horse on Parsons Green, London. A layer of creamy beige bubbles, covering a misty, dark brownish-amber body. Inviting caramel/toffee nose. Herbal hop notes. A refined soft caramelly sweetness in the flavor. Mildly hopped , some earthy bittering is noticable. Creamy mouthfeel. Sweetish caramel finish. A pretty good one with an inviting caramel aroma and flavor.

Cask at Green Man, Stamford, Lincolnshire. Dark amber with a white head. Curious aroma combing chocolate malt and just a little vinegar. Effect is not displeasing. Dusty slightly metallic taste with that taste of lint that often creeps into herby beers. A little bitterness.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2010 Cask (HBF2010)
6 Very raw hoppy aroma, a touch sweet
3 Rich orange, but flat
6 Too hop dominated, and the malts are worty.
3 Raw hoppy finish
10 This is either way way way too young, or the brewer doesn’t know what to aim for. (And I’ve had his other beers since - he does know what to aim for, so this must have been underconditioned.)
Rerate: Cask (St. Urho’s, Helsinki)
6 pungently hoppy aroma, quite earthy
4 deep orange, small loose head.
6 simple sweetise body. nettley retronasals, some undergrowth. bitterness and caramalt in good balance.
4 Low carbonation, soft palate. finish dry bitter, barky and musty.
13 competent bitter. weak in the mouth, but finish is more impressive.
