3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Amber to brown with white head. Dry standard Cottage beer, malty with notes of breadcrust, the bit that everyone leaves on a loaf, except for me because I like the crust. However this is a beer not a loaf, finishes ok, with a hint of hop coming through. I believe that Cottage are a decent Brewery but with the wrong Corporate Policy, they should concentrate building on core brands and then diversifying, but what do I know?

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton. Honey amber with a thin veiled top. Soggy red berry aroma; plum, caramel. The usual murky Cottage stuff; house sesame, strawberry draped with caramel, heady fruit and pear hints. Tasty.

A Sim rate (cask at the Market no-Porter): Smells of feet. Possibly cheese. It’s freshly poured but smells as if it’s been sitting there for days. It can’t decide if it’s sweet or bitter, but whichever, it’s not nice. It’s certainly not out of condition. It’s just a bad beer.
