UPDATED: MAR 1, 2006 Half pint pulled at The Lower Red Lion in St Albans (Hertfordshire), a dark amber with a filmy head. A strong malty aroma, slightly tartish. A delicious chocolate malt flavour with a good smooth mouthfeel.

Cask at the Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Dark ruby coloured with a slim creamy white head. Sweet and malty with some nice light bitterness in the finish.

Cask at The Stafford Arms, Bagnall. Deep ruby brown colour with a thin off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt caramel, spice and dark fruits. Taste of roasted malt, nuts, sweet dark fruits like plum and raisin plus a little bitterness. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A roasted, fruity finish. A warming winter beer.
