Cask handpump at the Smithfield Hotel, Manchester 06/12/2003 Amber coloured and smooth on the palate. Some fruitiness and a slightly dry hop finish.

What a shock. My weekly visit to he Head of Steam at Euston and there is another Cottage beer on. Not a bad one though. Malt is to the fore, but there is plenty of hop bite to back it up. Crisp finish with just a hint of sweetness. Handpump, Head of Steam, Euston, London NW1.

Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London.
Amber body with just the finest of white heads. Reasonably bitter with little else in support. Good clarity, presentation of course but just no substance. The beer is thin and lacks body. Nothing-in, nothing-out.

Cask fresh @ Theobald's, Grays, Essex. A straightforward pleasant and above average bitter in the ever expanding Whippet series. Autumn coloured, nicely balanced and with a slightly tangy finish. Served in perfect condition at this award winning pub.
