(4.0% version) Cask handpump at the Tom Cobbley Tavern, Spreyton, Devon. Light copper with no head and some haziness. Slightly citrus taste. Quite thin. Malty and not bitter with a yeast end. Not much to say about it.

Cask. Rust brown with a light tan head. Warm malt nose. Wheat maltiness in the mouth, with a slight lime bitter tang. Some pear. A little watery, but pleasant.

[Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Amber with a moderate white head. Harsh sour citrus from the off with an unpleasant sticky mouthfeel. Another poor beer from Cotage, one of the many breweries that could do with focussing on quality rather than quantity.

Cask.
Rated on 20110720.
Amber colour with small white head. Aroma is grassy hops, some fruits and malts. Flavour is fruits, some malts, a bit caramel and notes of citrus. A bit boring.

Cask conditioned at The Old Fox, Birmingham. Amber with no head. Bland boring beer, no real flavour or character. Dull.

Cask handpull at Three Mariners, Hythe, Kent. Attractive rich brown colour. Disappearing head. Decent best bitter. Some dry and fruity malt. OK

Cask, Telegraph Inn, New Brighton. I couldn’t get beyond the fact that the aroma of this was akin to a fresh pile of sick - absolutely disgusting. Maybe the pipes needed a good cleaning, whatever, the pukey smell just ruined everything, and this got poured into the hedge before I could dwell on this turkey any further.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Ffestiniog Railway Station Pub. Standard in the looks department. Very fruity and rather bland. What there is is ok it’s just that there is very little going on.

Pale amber colour. Slightly cloudy. Tart, somewhat acetic aroma - at first I thought this beer was on its way to going off. However, there was no evidence of vinegar, or any other sharpness, on the palate. Sweetish, fruity flavour - very citric (lemon). In fact this put me in mind of lemon barley water. Acceptable, but nothing more. Cask (handpump), Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford. No fewer than four guest beers from Cottage on offer.
