Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Looks great - a dark reddish copper with a tan head; aroma of nutty roasted malts; dry and creamy to start with a hint of spice, then the sweet nutty malts show through; the finish is dry with some light chocolate from the malts. A satisfying pint.

Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, caramel, prunes, toasty grain and a mild bitterness in the finish. Medium body, slightly sweet. Nice one.

On cask at The Congress, Longton. Pours ruby with a beige head. Low carbonation, a very smoky start and finish. Excellent first impressions but it does get a bit much toward the end. Not something you could drink too much of but an excellent pint.

Tried at the Market Porter. Perfect pint on a cold spring day...daylight savings starts today but it’s pretty cold and this went down a treat. Pours a deep ruby, beaten butter and sugar with vanilla on the nose. Touch of blackcurrant on the palate, big malty palate followed by a surprising dry hop finish. I thought this was more of an ESB than an old but enjoyable non the less

Cask at Bree Louise Deep ruddy-brown colour. Slightly hazy topped by a rich creamy tan head. Brown malts, toasted grains and lots of dried fruits. Cherry, apricots, peaches, raisins and bits of light cocoa as well. An unusual herbal malt component that reminds me of many of the darker ales I had in France. There is a light tartness on the back of this one that lends a slightly vineous flavour on the back. Quite an interesting pint.
