Clear medium to dark yellow orange color with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, caramel, toffee, butter. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate acrid bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090808]

Amber color, steady off-white head. Toffeish, diacetylic nose. Pear fruity, diacetylic toffeish flavor. Low bitterness. Poor.

Cask@Market Porter, London. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is caramel, butter, wood, some diacetylic notes as well. Mild mango, grapefruit and lemon as well. Flavour is fruits, wood and some quite bittery acidic notes in the finish.

(Cask at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool, 25 July) Copper colour with little head. Nose is fruity with citrus (mandarin, orange, grapefruit) and apricots. Taste is fruity with mandarin, orange, grapefruit and a nice hoppy finish. Hoppy and refreshing.

Cottage have two types of beers, the ones you like and the ones you don’t. This unfortunately was the later. Dull, bland and unstructured. Malts? Yes. Hops? A little. Structure or complexity? None.
