3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask at the Doric Arch (formerly the Head of Steam) in Euston, 24th July 2007. I’ve got to disagree with my friend Mes on this - I felt that the palate was very good, not too thin. The aroma is a mix of vanilla and caramel and the mix of fruit and malt in the taste is just right. Overall a very drinkable bitter.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask Conditioned at The Bree Louise, London
Mahogany color, thin creamy head and nice lace. Good caramel aroma. It has a solid caramel flavor, followed by some chocolate and a hint of fudge that qualifies it. More chocolate and correct bitterness at the end. Good.

Cask at the Lyndhurst, Reading. Mid-brown with a scummy off-white head; aroma of apple and fruity malts; apple flavours too, with well-balanced lightly roasted malts; and a biscuit and toffee finish. Refined and elegant.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms, London.
Deep amber coloured, winter styled beer. Malty, biscuity full flavours. Easy drinking. Good bitter bite that rounds off the palate nicely, giving the malts structure and focus on the palate.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
The Claret, Near Croydon A dark and fruity best bitter with roasty bits. All malt up front with the hops making a late but welcome appearance in the lingering finish. A surprising hit of raisin and plum sweetness. A pleasant ale, though a little simple and unbalanced.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice pale chestnut colour. Malty nose, but quite subdued. Fruity hints on the palate - maybe exotic fruit such as mango - but nothing very assertive. No great bitterness. Fades away a bit at the end and finishes short. Quite drinkable, but not very inspiring. Handpunmp, Head of Steam, London NW1
