UPDATED: OCT 9, 2008 [cask handpull at Lyndhurst Arms, Reading] c7 Fairly dark for a bitter, medium creamy head, some sediment. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, lots of malt, a little chocolate, earthy bitter finish. Went down easily, but pretty unmemorable.

Cask at the Lyndhurst, Reading. Mid-brown with a scummy off-white head; aroma of apple and fruity malts; apple flavours too, with well-balanced lightly roasted malts; and a biscuit and toffee finish. Refined and elegant.

Mahogany color, thin creamy head and nice lace. Good caramel aroma. It has a solid caramel flavor, followed by some chocolate and a hint of fudge that qualifies it. More chocolate and correct bitterness at the end. Good.

Clear medium amber color with a small, frothy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, toffee, notes of peat. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (010508)

Cask at the Doric Arch (formerly the Head of Steam) in Euston, 24th July 2007. I’ve got to disagree with my friend Mes on this - I felt that the palate was very good, not too thin. The aroma is a mix of vanilla and caramel and the mix of fruit and malt in the taste is just right. Overall a very drinkable bitter.
