Cask at the Hobgoblin, Reading. Dark magohany brown in colour with a thin coffee head; and an aroma of earthy, richly roasted malts; the flavour is sweet and oily with some caramelised nuts thrown in; and the finish is unremittingly sweet, so not to my taste.

Cask, Swan Inn, Liverpool. Muddy looking brown with a thin white head. Thickish mouthfeel. Heavy on the maltiness, coupled with a slightly overt sweetness. Not great.

Cask conditioned at The Woolpack, Banbury. Reddish amber with white head. Standard cottage 4.7% bitter, sweet, malty caramel, dull. Below average.

Clean golden brown with no head. Bready malt aroma with lots of grain and a hint of diacetyl. Similar flavour with a nice creamy feel, some decent toffee notes and a restrained bitterness in the finish. Nothing that special.
