Let me start out by saying that I am an American IPA hop-head, this beer was a disappointment. It looked copper and had nice carbonation, good head retention and even some lacing on the glass, but there was close to no aroma, maybe a slight hint of bitterness. IMO, IPAs should lure you in with the smell of cascade hops. There was a lot of malt character and very little bitterness in this beer. I would not call it an IPA, maybe an ESB or a pale ale. Very disappointing, drinkable, but I would caution the other hop heads.

Hoppy nose on this with some stone fruit notes. A little bitterness to the taste with a dry finish. Pretty thin overall characteristic to it. Predominantly muted citrus notes leaning towards more of a grapefruit like quality.

[4283-20120207] 12floz bottle. Old musty burlap malt bags aroma with a metallic shooter of Christmas rum dried in them. Hazy, dark amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. More metallic grainy rum malt in the flavour with a lingering sweet heavy fruit aftertaste. Medium-full body is surprisingly dry with a bitter finish. Interesting to sample. (7/3/7/3/13) 3.3

2012-02-07. Dark amber body, modest foamy beige head fades quickly. Sweet caramel malt aroma, light resiny hops, muted leafy notes. 6+ Flavour is similar, sweet caramel malt, light green leafy hops and mild resin, hints at oxidation. Smooth average bodied palate is lightly carbonated. Leafy character to the hops grows in the aftertaste. Okay. Bottle from trade with Suttree
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 kidmartinek (1849) - austin, Texas, USA - JAN 2, 2012
A slightly cloudy golden appearance. The white head doesn’t last long. The aroma is reminiscent of outdoors before a rain. It tastes like an IPA with a lot of banana-like belgian yeast flavor. White lace. Punchy finish & good bite. satisfying.

pours a amber color with a white head that does not stick around very long. first thing you notice is the nose, very strong in hops. The aroma is malty with citrus notes. the flavor is malty, with some caramel, and nice bitterness throughout, at the end there is a strong taste of the hops. Very well balanced, and good mouth feel. Overall this is pretty good, i would drink it again.

A solid IPA. I prefer Two Hearted but this is a good alternative. Not enough lacing, the head stuck around though.
