12 oz bottle I brought back from CT - not quite as good as when I had it on tap, but close. Cloudy brown with a thin beige head. Interesting nose of caramel, earth and a touch of chocolate and pine. Solid chocolaty earth flavors with a lingering earthy finish. Really dug this beer!

Many thanks to Will, pours a dark brown with orange highlights. The smell is brown sugar, rich fruit. The taste is cherry Tootsie Pop, brown sugar, rich fruit. The body is light/medium body with tight carbonation.

12 ounce bottle. Very dark with just a little red. A tan ring. Rich fruity malts in the aroma. Dark fruit, very rich malts, and toffee are all tasted early. It is kind of like a fruit cake and it is a bit bready. Also a little like chocolate covered cherries. A dry bitterness begins to emerge and is somewhat a chemical effect. A good winter warmer of a beer.

On tap in Reading Terminal Market, pours a murky brown with some thin white head. Nose is odd, spice, candy sugar, some root vegetables, maybe even a little cooked squash. Flavor follows, cloves, all spice, candy, toffee. Boozy finish. Reminded me of a bad dubbel. Makes for an even worse scotch.

Draught: This one pours a clear, dark copper color. There was a small off white head. It has a good malty nose. Caramel, toffee, some fruits. The taste is good. Just a bit more than medium bodied. Toffee, caramel, a hint of chocolate, maybe some raisins. Some hop notes also that kept the sweetness down. Nice.

Great fruity smell sweet with hints of alcohol, taste is the same...wonderful! Very Smooth, light fruitiness and slight sweetness, finishes sweet with slow dissipation...a very classy beer...sip slow...waters out a bit with speed

i love the taste and the mouthfeel. i got a nice berry and toasted coconut when you can do that.....you’re good. full mouthfeel smooth and silky with a touch of foam, that’s where the berry comes in all juicy black and red. good buzz and satisfying. it’s a scotch ale? then it’s the best one i ever had. kind of a caramel cocoa thing going on.

12oz bottle from Spirits Fischer Blvd. Poured a syrupy reddish-brown with a very small light beige head. Aroma is very malt forward, cinnamon, dates, fig, raisin bread dough. Body starts off medium but fades during the swallow, lighter carbonation. Flavor similar to the aroma but a lighter cinnamon taste, dark toast, earth, dry nut shell, bark and raisin bread dough.

Bottle. Room-filling nose is heavy with malt, sweet, brown sugar and earth, toffee, light caramel, light spice, tons and tons of red berry and stone fruit, peach, pear, jammy cherry, touch of apricot, some smoke, plum and raisin. Just a touch of alcohol showing. Deep dark brown pour wit an ephemeral tan head, beautiful garnet highlights. Body is only medium, lightly watery at times and flattish, but very smooth and graceful. All of the above flavors in spades, really a nice depth of malt complexity, no citrus but plenty of other fruit, smoke is minimal, sweetness is bracing but not cloying, and the alcohol is remarkably well-tamed. Light, clean bitterness with an earth component to the light hops, faint honey and roast. Wish it were fuller and had something resembling an aftertaste (preferably with smoke!), but as it is, a good bit of fun!
