3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster. Looks good; a translucent dark amberish brown with foamy very light beige head. Smells and tastes malty and nutty with a bit of toast. Average on the palate. Not bad.

UPDATED: FEB 20, 2014 Kentucky Fried Charleston Trip Beer #18. Draft at the brewery. Pours a hazy dark brown color with a thin head. Aroma of earth, mild roast, bitter hops. The taste is sweet toasted malts and a bitter hop finish. Medium bodied, well balanced.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
on tap @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear dark mahogany with a good tan head cover, a couple of dots of lace. Taste is strong, slightly bitter malt that moves uneventfully through the palate to a finish that is already bitter enough to balance. Certainly a one note beer. A little strong for sessions, a little bland for more serious drinking.

On tap came out a hazy medium to dark brown with little head. Taste is mostly malt and chocolate with a bit of alcohol twang at the finish. Not unpleasant but in need of refinement.

On tap at the JDI in Lexington Ky. Roasted malt aroma. Very dark brown with reddish tint. Lacing head. Very stout like roasted malt with cocoa, coffee, vanilla and wood notes. A hybrid stout / brown ale but quite good. Best of both worlds.

Dark brown color. Malty, roasty, hazelnut, fairly dry with chocolate nose. Fairly hoppy. Med-full body. Amazing balance. Much more of a porter than a brown, but excellent balance. Great depth. Nice linger mildly bitter finish.

Taster at the brewery. This beer pours a rich brown with a decent head that lingers and leave a slight lacing. The aroma is of chocolate and malt with a prominent hop presence. The taste is malty with notes of carmel and chocolate and a definite hoppy kick. This beer bridges the gap between my love of hoppy IPA’s and my wife’s love of malty brown ales.
