3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Deep brown body with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and cream, chocolate, vanilla and a hint of bourbon. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Nice bourbon, wood flavors because they aren’t overpowering. The malts are clean, but this porter was way too sweet for my taste.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Not bad, but not for me. Might try again since I tasted this after a Founders KBS. That is really not fair. Dark brown with a red tint. Tries to be a stout. To sweet and musty. Not for me.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft to taster. Looks good; cola with foamy beige head that dissipates into lacing fairly quickly. Smells and tastes bitter with some booziness. Thin on the finish. Okay, but I’m underwhelmed.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft @ CB. Dark brown almost black with a small tan head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coconut and light roasted malt. Flavor is rich cocoa, a great oak/vanilla/coconut/bourbon barrel character and a light roasted bitterness. Fullish body with soft carbonation. This is a really nice porter, they extracted so much barrel goodness into this.

A complex beer that is at once heavy but balanced, potent but smooth, and completely unforgettable.
