COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This rich porter has the color and (almost) the consistency of Texas Tea, but delivers delicious malt and chocolate flavors.

I really like this one. Really black and dark. Good rich porter flavor. I like country boy.

Aroma: A pretty good roast/chocolate balance; chocolate is semi-sweet and not overly bitter. Appearance: Solid black pour with a slight mocha head that fades entirely. Flavor: Semi-sweet chocolate is mostly up front; followed by more roast impressions toward the finish, which is semi-sweet. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: A fairly straightforward, but clean, porter.

Draft that poured dark brown very dark brown. With coffee colored head. Almost an oily finish on the glass. Rich nose of roasted malts, rich chocolate and hints of coffee. In the flavor you get some bitterness up from from the coffee and chocolate and then it settles into the deep roasted malts. Nice balance start to finish. Overall a solid porter moves into the top 6.

Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate and malt aroma. Medium to heavy sweet roasted malt flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

Draft at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a dark cola brown with garnet highlights and a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have roasted malt, chocolate, some sweet caramel malt, a splash of coffee, cocoa powder, some earthy/coffee bitterness, light medium bodied, ok.

Draft. Dark maroon brown color, brown head. Nice aroma of very roasty dark cocoa, espresso beans. Taste is bitter cocoa, very dark coffee, subtle licorice. Good body. Tasty.

Draft at the brewpub. Almost looks red to me, a different hue for a porter. Definitely an overall bitter tilt on this, like unground coffee beans. Medium body. Decent. (#5847, 11/10/2014)

phaleslu (7419) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 3, 2014
Draft at the brewery, served in a sampler. Pours a dark brown color with a small beige head that leaves a little lace. Aroma of chocolate, toast, mild tobacco, mild roast, maybe a splash of coffee, and some earth. Flavor is the same slate of notes and a little more caramel sweetness. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a malty, lightly roasted mouthfeel. Nice porter.

Draft. Light ash and chocolate malt aroma. Black with moderate tan head. Chocolate malt and mildly bitter ash flavor. Very good.

Black Gold Porter on tap at Country Boy. Opaque black with large light tan head. Feel: medium-full body with medium + carbonation. A bit too lively. Higher ABV is well hidden. Mild aroma of dark roasted malts and chocolate. Good, but not outstanding. mildly sweet up front; mildly bitter by the lightly smokey finish
