On tap at Blue Stallion Brewery. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Aroma of pine, spruce, grassy hops, caramel malt. Flavor of caramel malt, grassy hops, pine, a bit of citrus/lime, and bitter hop oils in the finish. Excellent IPA, super hoppy, nice lime/citrus profile. 8/4/8/4/14 (3.8/5)

Draft to taster. Abv is listed as 7.0% on the beer menu at The Tap in Bloomington. Looks good; a hazy peachy orange with foamy white head. Smells solid; nice and hoppy with a medium-bodied pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with a good mouthfeel. A nice IPA.

On tap at the Mellow Mushroom in Lexington. Clear light amber pour with a white head. Florally hop aromas. Tangy floral and citrus hop notes exploding all over the joint. It’s a bit unbalanced with almost no detectable malt notes. Average body and mouthfeel.

On tap at The Tap Pours clear amber with a nice foamy head with excellent retention and a good sheath of lacing down the glass. Lots of citrus/pine hops on the nose along with a hefty caramel backbone. Starts out with some citrus hop flavor and a touch of resin, but didn’t really explode at the front of the tongue the way I’d like. Definitely a hefty caramel backbone on this one and the sweetness is perhaps a tad bit high for an IPA. Finishes more balanced with caramel and resin. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. A bit chewy, but no lingering bitterness on the back of the tongue. A standard IPA for those who prefer more balance. It wasn’t bad, but I feel the balance leans heavier toward malt and I found the initial flavor burst and lingering hop bitterness I expect from IPA’s absent on this one. Still one I’d reach for again, but not if there are better style choices.

rosenbergh (6522) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 28, 2013
Draught at the Blue Stallion Brewing Co, Lexington, KY.
Cloudy amber colour with a small frothy white head. Sweet fruity hops, mild bitterness and sweet malt in the aroma. Moderate bitterness, resiny dry hops and dry malt in the flavour. Rather tasty.
