2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 25, 2011
Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 2001. Cask, gravity dispense. Clear pale amber with a loose white head. Floral hop notes in the short aroma. Thin resiny mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a slight digestive biscuit note with sweet golden syrup flavours. Hop resins present in the dry bitter aftertaste. Finish is short and bitter sweet with orange peel notes. An ok session bitter but not that outstanding.

Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Copper gold with a small white head. Apple peel taste suggested acetaldehyde. Apparently others had suggested this wasn’t quite ready. Taste was sweet malt with some bitterness. Overall effect was like licking the glue on an old fashioned envelope. Not up to scratch.
