BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 19, 2012
500ml brown bottle (3.8% ABV) poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ vase shaped pint glass. Best before 10-10-2010 and drank while watching the England v Algeria World Cup match (2010). The body was a clear, almost bright amber/light brown colour, on top was an off-white, thin foaming head. Very little aroma, some slight hop esters and hints of malted biscuits, typical mass produced English Bitter to be honest. The taste is a good enough mix of malts and hops, nothing spectacular, but nothing wrong with it either. A bit thin in the body stakes, even for a 3.8% beer and a little too fizzy for my liking. Pleasant enough, but not a beer I could recommend to anyone.

stravale (578) - Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND - DEC 12, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 13, 2011 Bottle from Morrisons
Appearance Amber, clear, forthy white head dissipates to very thin layer.
Aroma Faint sweet malt, almost nothing.
Taste Water, bit of light caramel malt, cardboard, paper. very bland.
Palate Soft carb, thin, watery, slight sour edge. Finish - water, light malt, soda, paper.
Overall Dismal, very poor bitter. Not undrinkable, but very bland - just coloured water (hence the E150). The commercial description - read it! A disgrace to brewing.

Malty, slightly sweet / fruity aromas. Quite well carbonated (this beer was bottled). Not a particularly bitter bitter. Dominant flavours are slightly sweet malt, no distinct hop aroma / flavour. Quite drinkable and a reasonable session bitter when price (99p) taken into consideration.

poor ’reet poor. Saw it on the shelf for £1 and thogught ’bargain’. should have been more prudent. pours a washed out brown/amber. white bubbly head with no retention. aroma is fruity and slightly malty. taste has a little fruit, but the overriding senstion is the metallic kick. avoid. spend more and get something decent!

Light hops and flowery aroma. Thick carbonation with light amber colour. Tastes a club soda with an acid kick. Cardboard, pear and vegetable. Overly carbonated, prickly, harsh and bland. Very chemical. Yuck!!!
