Cask Ale. Regular.
Originally brewed in Courage's Anchor brewery on the south bank of the Thames. It was moved to the Berkshire brewery at Reading in the 1970s, then to the Courage Brewery in Bristol. When Bristol closed in 1999 it moved to Tadcaster. Following ScotCo's reshuffle in 2004 it was contract brewed by Youngs, returning it to a site on the south bank of the Thames. In Jan 2007 the Courage brand was purchased by Wells & Young and production moved to Bedford.
Courage Best has long been one of the best selling cask beers in the South of England.

In London, cask pulled - amber color. Not much for the smell, but makes up for it in the taste. A bit malty but not overly, lighter mouth feel than expected but not at all bad. Just average.

Cask. Dark amber ale with a spotty off white head. Nose is toasty malt and damp underpants. Taste is oaky, earthy and a little "off". Dampness. Still, ale is ale and this is to be drunk. Finish is bland and woody. Not sure this is the best kept ale.

Appearance- dark brown with a small foamy white head. Aroma- not much at all- a bit of malt, slight hints of raisin. Taste- bitterness, vague hint of raisin and biscuit, thin mouthfeel. You have to search quite hard for any flavour, but there’s nothing offensive about it.

Cask @ Blue Stoops Chesterfield. Light Brown with quite a caramel, nutty taste which lingers. Had a bit of a surprise with this,as i wasn,t expecting to like it. However,it,s not a bad beer at all and makes a pleasant session ale. There may be better beers out there but by the same token, there are many that are far worse.

Cask at Ye Olde London. Pointlessly short review due to a social event. Light orange/yellow. Light body, low carb. Taste - watery, bland, slightly bitter, inoffensive, astringent without having the flavour to back it up. Not great, though this didn’t seem like the type of pub where you’d expect the beer to be in great condition.

Cask pints on 28 Jun 2013 at The RAF Cosford WO and Sgt’s Mess Summer Ball (of all places). Not bad, remember it being a bit thicker and richer from years ago: this seemed to be a watered down version. Looked OK: amber/golden brown body with a full off-white cap. Malts, semi-fruity nose and taste, a decent enough blend but missing deep flavours and oomph. Moved onto dark Rum and Coke after three pints.
