COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask Ale. Regular.
Originally brewed in Courage's Anchor brewery on the south bank of the Thames. It was moved to the Berkshire brewery at Reading in the 1970s, then to the Courage Brewery in Bristol. When Bristol closed in 1999 it moved to Tadcaster. Following ScotCo's reshuffle in 2004 it was contract brewed by Youngs, returning it to a site on the south bank of the Thames. In Jan 2007 the Courage brand was purchased by Wells & Young and production moved to Bedford.
Courage Best has long been one of the best selling cask beers in the South of England.

Lightish flavours, to bland and boring for me, light flavours and light alcohol level, make for a dull and boring beer, i got sick of seeing this crap on tap in London, don’t bother with this one.

First tasted this bitter in the George, Basingstoke June 1991. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark amber in colour with frothy white head and metallic tang in the aroma. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt gives a digestive biscuit base with tart marmalade fruit. Strong metallic hop resin tang present in the dry hoppy aftertaste. Finish is edged malt with a slight metallic hop tang present in the mouth. An ok session bitter.

On cask at rose and crown, highworth. Inoffensive and boring banality. I doubt I’d bother if this was real ale. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
