Bottle. Clear amber body with a thin white head. Lively carbonation. Light lacing. Aroma of tea, copper and boiled vegetables. Flavour of fruit cake, bread and nuts. Thin body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. A reasonable Premium Bitter - I think this would be pretty good on cask.

Bottle that Dad shared with me- cheers. This is a beer that Iíve always thought of as reasonably decent when Iíve had it in good condition on cask, so I was interested to see how it would cope with the transition to bottle. Itís a bit lighter in colour than I remember it being on cask- amber with a thin off-white head. Itís definitely too fizzy. Up front though itís quite promising- thereís a big fruity berry whiff. On tasting itís much less pleasant- vague caramel pushed aside by assertive cardboard and metal. And the fizz is constantly annoying. Another decent UK cask ale is destroyed by pasteurization. Why do they do it?

Sampled from a 50cl bottle. Amber-brown with a whitish head. Malt and caramel aromas. The taste is malty with caramel overtones, some hints of raisins, followed by earthy malts. I remember the cask version of this very well, and the present day offering seems very poor in comparison, with nothing like the richness of the old brew. A rather bland beer these days, I am afraid.

500 ml bottle. Clear, dark amber colour, short-life small sized off-white porous head, slight toffee aroma, light body, soft carbonation, moderate nutty and caramel sweet taste, sour malty palate with simply earthy hoppy notes. Smooth, but nothing special.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a nice off-white head that stays around. A pleasant malty aroma, and quite noticeable caramel. The taste is creamy and bittery, some caramel also present. Very nice.

Bottle shared with McTapps. I always thought I had drunken this one already but surprise - I did not. - second surprise: fine one. Aromas of raisins, bit chocolate, some malt and bit of hops. Very easy to drink with a light warming touch and slightly sweetish. Fine, well brewed piwo with some class in it. Not rocket science but something you could drink every time you visit the UK. Thumbs up.

Bottle from Tesco Extra in Eastbourne. Pours out in a clear amber-brown colour with low head and medium body. Aroma of malt and wheat. Taste of mild hops, light barley, wheat, dark bread, roast and leaves. Woody finish. Nice one but nothing speciaal.

This used to be my regular Sunday night drink in the Rainbow in Coventry - great pub, good beer. This bottled version is a blander version; drinkable, but not very interesting. Looks OK, medium brown with a small white head and some lacing. Aroma and taste is mostly malt with little coming from the hops. Iíve tried some supermarket beers this evening for old timeís sake - will be back to the bottle shop next time for something a bit more inspiring.
