Quite bland, but not too bad, average in most every way. Did have it after a great imperial stout.

Too gassy, nothing like Courage Directors on tap (as it used to be in the 70s/80s) Little or no aroma, taste is okay.

500 ml bottle bought at Wellcome Superstore in Sheung Shui.

Clear dark amber colour; Very thin head and residual white foam which faded in 20 seconds; Small lacing with slight carbonation; Fragrant sweet aroma of malt, raisins, light dark fruit , toffee, caramel, milk chocolate, slight citrus and grass; Fairly light sweet taste of thin malt, with bread, biscuits, light metallic, hint of red fruit, very light wet cardboard, faint citrus and grass; Light body, watery palate; Mouth feel is a very straight forward watery ale, with pretty good malty dry biscuit character, quite clean, foul is negligible, and so is variety in taste. Hoppiness is faint citrus and grass in nose and taste. Bitterness is minimal for hollow finish; Slightly dry after taste, very easy to mouth.

Comments: This is so easy to down itís almost likeable, Still, decent nose aside, itís too simple, extremely low on hops, very watery, and monotone in variety. I donít think these ďDirectorsĒ had discerning taste, and I will drink it again only if itís free of charge.

(Bottle): Pours a clear bronze, small off white head. Sweet malt aroma but not much else. Straightforward weak taste of caramel, malt and a little bit of spice. Just plain boring to me.

I donít care how fashionable this isnít or how far itís knocked for being commercial, I enjoy this straight-forward non-pretentious bitter. Hoppy, medium bitterness on the finish. Medium body.
