From a bottle. Had a malty mouthfeel and a light body, beautiful tawny dark mahogany tone. Slight hop presence and a crisp dry citrus finish. Enjoyable!

500 ml bottle from Unimarc, Santiago. Pours a gorgeous looking amber color with a fine medium white and frothy head that shows good retention. Fresh English hops dominate the aroma with notes of herbs, grass and a trace of spice. The malts give distinctive nutty and bready hints. I feel it kinda’ restrained though. The taste is bitter but subtle, crisp and herbal. Malt sugars are barely noticeable I get a note of orange and mild spices. This ale aims at drinkability in a truly English fashion instead of an all-out assault on your senses. Light bodied, easy to drink in high quantities but still classy. Maybe a little one-dimensional and simple but it could work well as an everyday summer beer. Goes well with spicy dishes.

Brown bottle, 500ml, best before Jun 2007, drank 1st Feb 2007. Poured into a 0.2 litre Hannan Alt striaght glass (3 times). Not a clue where this was brewed or bottled, Courage/John Smith’s/Scottish/Inbev, etc. They like to keep you guessing, I believe it will be brewed in Bedford soon, this could have been a test brew for all I know, or made in Tadcaster? Good amber body, slightly off white head which didn’t stay on any of the three pours. Mixed fruit aroma, apple/pear/orange orchard smell, malty biscuits too. Hops, yeast and malts, in other words, it tastes like a British Bitter, which it should do. Not the weight of 4.8% alcohol in the mouthfeel, not really watery, but no depth either. A slight lingering of the overal taste but nothing overly strong. Anyway, where ever it eventually settles down at, I hope they don’t mess too much with it. Never a favorite of mine (cask or otherwise), it is never-the-less not a bad beer and my scores are truthful, even though it is an Inbev owned company.

Gorgeous colour. Rosy amber with a patchy white head. Aromas of toffee, turkish delight, fruit bread and flavours (and plenty of them) of the same, rosehip and bakewell tart. Lovely full body and plenty of carbonation, lingering bitterness and well, just exactly what I like.
