276ml bottle at home, clear golden orange side of yellow thin head minimal lacing, faint hos on aroma taste is not all that remarkable, I think a 3.2% is a challenge worth rising to for a light ale and a bit more character would give this a niche.

Dark yellow colour with a frothy off white head. Mild malty caramel aroma. Moderate sweet malt flavour with some caramel. A lot better than expected. Breakfast beer :-)

275ml bottle, best before 25/12/11, drunk in December 2011. Orange amber colour. Light nutty malt aroma. Dry, light and moderately bitter on the palate. Reasonably dry. Watery mouthfeel. Difficult to find to much to say about this really. Drinkable but inconsequential.

Fizzing amber with a tight lacing collar. Sweet caramel, grass and tea aroma with orange and honey dabs. Pleasant enough bread and honey with a cherryish back note. Slight, but at 3.2% you’ve got to make some allowances..

Bottle. Golden and poured with a medium head. Some bitterness and a thin body. Not an unpleasant drink just weak and lacking any kind of personality.

[275ml bottle at Letchworth Hall Hotel, Letchworth] Tried this at my mate’s wedding reception in a desperate search for a decent beer at the bar (and having already established that I didn’t much fancy the Courage Best and John Smiths...) My first mouthful of the first bottle tasted sweet and malty, with lots of caramel. I thought I was going to enjoy it, and soon finished it. Despite it having got noticeably less enjoyable with a definite papery feel towards the end, I ordered a second bottle. The taste continued to degeneate the more I drank, leaving a rather unpleasant pricly metallic bitterness in the aftertaste. I wonder if my initial enjoyment was just because it was better than the dire John Smith’s I’d finished just before? Still, this is pretty poor fare.
