Pours black with a medium compact tan head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, hazelnuts, honey, dark berries. Taste is very well balanced with vanilla upfront, and right after chocolate, hazelnuts, slight blueberry notes. Really good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask conditioned at Peterborough Beer Fest 13. Black with slight cream head. Super smooth but highly alcoholic in character, lots of plummy fruit notes, some coffee, some liquorice. Heavy old stuff, but worth the effort.

GBBF, half pint draught. Black with hardly any head. Smell - some crayon, roasted barley, slight bubblegum. Body is medium with low carbonation. Taste - vegetable water, aniseed, slight coffee, roasted barley and liquorice finish. Good balance for a beer this strong. I wasnt that fussed on it overall though.

Black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, roast, dark caramel, Sherri. Taste of roast, coffee, chocolate, Sherri, burnt sugar. Oddly light for such a heavy beer. Warm alcohol going down the throat.

Poured from 9.3 oz bottle- pours like a thick hot chocolate, dark brown in color with light brown thick frothy head. Flavor is a dull smokey licorice with prevalent characters of alcohol and bitterness.

Bottle sample at the tasting. Thanks zvikar. Pours opaque dark brown, almost black, with a tan creamy head. Rich and pleasant aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee and cocoa. Taste sweet malt, dark chocolate, dried fruits, brown sugar, bitter finish with a hint of smoke, delicious brew. Palate smooth and creamy, very dense with a full body. Great beer.
