Looks like motor oil. Smells like alcohol. Not very balanced. Overly hot. Thanks Seymour.

Bottle. Black body, big beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, raisins. Taste is heavy roasted, with plums, raisins, cocoa, red fruits. Good thick body. A nice strong coffee touch at the finish seals a good taste experience, with a roasty malt bitter aftertaste. This beer was actually a lot better than I expected.

Dark chocolate aroma, slightly bitter. Drank out of bottle, nice design though. Pear taste and darker woodiness. Smooth to the palate, no filmy aftertaste

Pours black from the bottle. Aroma is dark fruits and caramel. Flavor is sweet, with lots of dark fruits. A hint of bitterness in the finish. A lovely, flavorful, wonderful beer.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer fest 2013. Thanks to Beese for the pour. Dark caramel opaque pour with a thin light tan head. Aroma is soft roast, veg, salty soy. Full bodied low carb, flavour is salty soy, roast.

[Cask at ’Cask Days 2013’.] Beer #17 of the fest. Pours black with ruby hues and a spare bubbly tan head. Big roasty aroma along with darkf ruit, some alcohol, light hops, coffee and chocolate. Big flavour follows the aroma, with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, and ends with a big boozy roasty finish that is almost harsh. Average bodied, syrupy mouthfeel. Pretty good but not as good as expected, probably better in the bottle.

Dark brown with ruby lowlights and a creamy tan cap. Aroma is waxy with chocolate, mild vanilla and roasted malts. Taste is mild and acidic with chocolate, dark roasted malts and light anise.

Bottle. Black with a small head. Slightly sweet with traces of liquorice and chocolate. Very well balanced and dangerous because it doesn’t drink like a ten per center.

11/5/2013. From bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Aromas of sweet roasted malt, caramel, licorice and spice. Smoky flavors with lots of malt, chocolate. Finishes bitter. Excellent stout.

2012: Nose is sweet smoke, treacle, caramel, cherry, figs, plum, very inviting. Taste is smoke, leading to treacle, figs, plum, sugar, pears and coffee. It’s got a thick cream like mouthfeel. Very enjoyable I’d like to try a bottle which has been aged.
