3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Shared a cool-looking little 9.3oz brown bottle (#048498) with gregwilsonstl. It poured opaque black with thin but persistent tan foam, some sticky lace. Aromas of toast, roasted barley, alcohol, hints of raisins, raspberries. Strong fruity flavours: dried apricots, pears, plum sauce. Strong caramelized sugar flavours, toffee, molasses. Bready, nutty. Heavy body and full mouthfeel, below-average carbonation. Complex and tasty, but rough-around-the-edges, Iím sure it would benefit from aging. A bit too boozy.

Lovely. Bottle at Lincoln Wine bar. Oily black. Big brown head. Aroma has chocolate and roasted malt. The flavor is semi-sweet with notes of alcohol, chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to a dry, slightly toasted finish.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Orlando. Nice two finger foamy head. Nice big aroma of cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt. Creamy texture. Medium bodied at least. Kind of like a roasted malt/warming alchohol milkshake. Frothy yumminess. I wonder if Catherine the Great put down her vodka for good after drinking this stuff. Great beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($7): Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is raisin, roasted malt, sugar, coffee, and a pinch of booze. Taste is somewhat sweet, but not cloying. Not really much on the bitter side. Lots of dark fruity flavors, coupled with a light alcohol burn. (2012 Vintage).

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2014 Lovely to look at. Dark and thick. Big alcohol. Itís was overpowering in a few ways, nothing subtle about it, but maybe thatís an imperial stout. Tan head. Very rich and malty sweet. This bottle had a skunky smell to it. Not sure if it was just me b/c I had a cold or it was the bottle. It didnít jive for me.

Looks like motor oil. Smells like alcohol. Not very balanced. Overly hot. Thanks Seymour.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Black body, big beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, raisins. Taste is heavy roasted, with plums, raisins, cocoa, red fruits. Good thick body. A nice strong coffee touch at the finish seals a good taste experience, with a roasty malt bitter aftertaste. This beer was actually a lot better than I expected.

Dark chocolate aroma, slightly bitter.
Drank out of bottle, nice design though.
Pear taste and darker woodiness.
Smooth to the palate, no filmy aftertaste
