A deep dark stout with a thin mocha head. In aroma, smooth sweet fruity chocolate malt with light bourbon notes, and light cork. In mouth, a superb sweet fruity chocolate malt with light licorice, treacle, alcohol warmth and iodine, quite well done. Cask Days 2013.

Black with a thin beige head. Aroma of roast malt, berries, chocolate, poorly-disguised alcohol and yeast. Taste is sweet, with a tart and bitter finish. Oily texture, light carbonation. This is not very pleasant.

9.3 oz. bottle. It pours a muddy dark brown with a decent light brown head. The aroma is dark chocolate and rich bread with lighter notes of smoke, treacle and dark fruit as it warms. The flavor has a lot of raisin, prune, fig, bread, coffee and some dark chocolate and ash in the finish. Much fruitier than most American versions of the style. Very rich, complex and satisfying. I’m glad I finally got a chance to try this world classic.

Conyers, Ga - Sigman Bottle Shop - 275 ml bottle. Pitch black, licorice-like pour with a thin but sticky khaki colored head that leaves a light film of lacing. Aroma of creosote, licorice, a touch of espresso. Flavor is enticing, with some licorice accents, some plums and prunes, espresso hints in the back end with just a hint of warm booziness ans smokiness, . Mouthfeel has a warming thickness to it.

Bottle: Thanks Gothgargoyle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Sticky medium sized beige to light brown foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of a strong roasty touch, roasted barley malts, coffee roast, some nettle drenched in liquid nettle, some marzepin, a light hint of flowers and the slightest hint of cloves. Flavours of creamy liquorice, roast, coffee, bitters, some coffee roast, light spicy, tar, liht chocolate, malt roast, wood roast and some grainy roast. Aftertaste has some good roast, bitters, liquorice, some coffee. Low carbo, soft creamy silky mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture. Nice and thick, close to becoming complex.

9.3 oz bottle. Dark brown with a dense tan head. Aroma is very smooth milk chocolate, dark fruits, licorice, caramel. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel. Taste is at first sweet dark fruits with chocolate in the background, roasted malts and bitter chocolate in the end. I really enjoyed this.

Fluffy thick head, very dark, reddish highlights. Very very dark chocolate nose. Some sweetness, mild roastiness in taste. Tastes very light, then gets richer. Alcohol extremely well hidden. Grainy at the end. Very well done, thanks for sharing, Ron.
