Very, very dark indeed, but with a brown tint, big tan head that leaves some lacing. Rich and well rounded aroma filled with dried dark fruits, treacle and sweet liquorice, balanced by the roasted notes. The taste is quite sweet with a somewhat more complex fruit flavour. It is also slightly sharper than the very rounded aroma with a salty finish. Medium body, I would have liked a bit heftier, and low carbonation. This one is definitely a sniffer, I could sit with my nose in the glass for hours.

A huge thank you to xpimptastikx for hooking me up with this. I am huge fan of the style, and am grateful for the opportunity to taste this stout for the first time. The beer appears dark mahogany with a substantial beige head that leaves copious lacing on the tumbler. The aroma brings roast, dark fruit, malt, raisins, toffee. Nice flavor. The finish brings a healthy amount of hop bitterness. Prominent dark fruit with a strong hop presence in both the aroma and flavor. Unusual for the style and really delicious. Glad I was able to acquire some of this. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-08-2012

Aroma: Smelling of sweet dark bread, dates and figs, dark coffee and chocolate.
Appearance: A brown and black colored beer. A high tan head with good lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting of sweet bread, grown sugar, dark coffee and grape-fruit zest.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and sticky texture. A big body with a very dry finish.
Overall: Crammed with lots of taste. Not bad at all :)
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2012-12-05.

Small bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and roasted malts plus some dough and floral hops. Flavor the same, but it could use a little more roasted malts. Smooth texture. A good beer but not the best of its style.
