A huge thank you to xpimptastikx for hooking me up with this. I am huge fan of the style, and am grateful for the opportunity to taste this stout for the first time. The beer appears dark mahogany with a substantial beige head that leaves copious lacing on the tumbler. The aroma brings roast, dark fruit, malt, raisins, toffee. Nice flavor. The finish brings a healthy amount of hop bitterness. Prominent dark fruit with a strong hop presence in both the aroma and flavor. Unusual for the style and really delicious. Glad I was able to acquire some of this. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 01-08-2012

Aroma: Smelling of sweet dark bread, dates and figs, dark coffee and chocolate.
Appearance: A brown and black colored beer. A high tan head with good lacing and good curtains.
Taste: Tasting of sweet bread, grown sugar, dark coffee and grape-fruit zest.
Palate: Medium carbonation, a soft and sticky texture. A big body with a very dry finish.
Overall: Crammed with lots of taste. Not bad at all :)
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2012-12-05.

Small bottle in a snifter. Pours black with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of chocolate and coffee and roasted malts plus some dough and floral hops. Flavor the same, but it could use a little more roasted malts. Smooth texture. A good beer but not the best of its style.

Positively surprised, as I’m such a huge fan of the american style. Pours pretty much black with a fairly tall tan head that drops quickly. Aroma of vanilla, raisins, prune, cherry, molasses and brown sugar. You can tell it’s going to be sweet! Taste is pleasantly alcohol sweet with a subtle bitterness in the background, that builds slightly into the warming finish. The finish is quite long and increasingly boozy. Body is thick and creamy, with a fairly low carbonation.

Pennywise flash back time. Black as something that is very black. Smells wonderful - espresso stuff, dusty red licorice, oats, dark creamy chocolate, berries, not really any espresso anymore, fruit cake maybe, light molasses. I dig. Gets more fruity as it warms... a ball warming too. Mouth things: creamy, medium bitterness, slick feel, tastes brown. MIld dose of molasses, brown sugar, no alcohol, prune, all around tasty. It’s time for popcorn, Futurama, a quick tug to midgets in firefighting costumes and then a short meditation.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with medium to big, fluffy tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of dark fruit, licorice, light coffee, soy, bread and toffee. Some light smoke as well. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with a nice coffee/espresso finish with notes of vanilla, raisins and some booze. Full bodied medium carbonation. Nice stuff although a bit boozy. Would probably benefit from ageing.

Bottle. Black with a thin fizzy head. Sweet chocolate, caramel, and light licorice aroma and taste with a thick sticky palate and a burnt cereal grain finish.
