Bottle. Black pour with brown head. Dark toasty rich malt aromas. Flavors follow as smokey, and roasted malt. One dimensional but pretty good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours very dark, with a strong tan head. Aroma of malts and coffee. Taste is rich and quite drinkable, with malts and notes of smoke. Not as complex as many Imperials, but still quite nice. Thumbs up.

9.3oz bottle (May 2011) - pours black with beige head and awesome lacing. Nose is dark fruit, alcohol, caramel and toffee. Flavor adds roasted malts. Sweetish. Burns. Roasted aftertaste. Dry finish. Mild for the style.

Sample at ÖÖWF 2012. Mild smell with some chocolate and dark malts. Musty taste with dark malts, roasted and very sweet. The smell was a bit to mild but the taste was nice.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Awesome brew with a huge robust aroma and flavour one this guy. the pour is a completely opaque black with a thin ugly beige head. The nose is sweet, earthy, roasted with big chocolate and a woody aroma. A bit of sweetness up front with an encroaching robust and intense roasted malt. A great malt and dark malt flavour with bitterness on the finish. Overall a great imperial stout!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
9.3oz bottle poured into my squat little Oskar Blues 10-Fidy glass. It pours up with a deep dark body supporting a lasting fairly tall mocha colored head. The aroma offers up sweet dark fruity esters like figs and dates as well as earthy chocolate and dark roasted to a sliver of burnt malts. Smells nice. The taste is rich with mineral nuanced dark roasted malts and chocolate and near firm levels of brown sugar coated simmering figs. To midway the chocolate shows off some dark chocolate richness just as the modest level of booze is noticed. It ends with a pleasing and long lasting dark roasted malt to burnt malt to dark chocolate goodness that you really don’t want to end. Nice brew indeed.

Great example of a big stout made with all roasted malt. Somewhat one-dimensional but still a solid beer.
