Cask at Pigs Ear 2013. Boozy too hot. Some intense dark chocolate. Quite whisky like. Ok but not my thing just way too whisky boozy. Some paper. Some choc.

Draft at GBBF 2013 - London. Pours black with a creamy tan head. Lovely stuff, lots of creamy chocolate, moderate alcohol, well roasted malts. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish but not cloying with more chocolate character and roasty malts. Rich and tasty.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Pitch black beer with a nice lasting beige head. Malty nutty aroma, chocolate, caramel, prunes, figs, dades, coffee notes. Chocolate and hazelnuts aroma, licorice, dades, licorice, raisins, coffee, alcohol. Nice beer, but probably better in a year or two.

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting. Black with a light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and coffee. Flavor is very sweet and very bitter. Dry and very bitter finish with warming alcohol. 050214

Pours black in color with a finger or two of khaki head. Nice dark fruit aromas which offset the roasted malt aroma. Dark chocolate, plenty of coffee, and a hint of licorice. Some nice burnt sugar notes and just a touch of smoke. The flavor is fairly sweet, but still a good roast and coffee character. Some dark chocolate, a touch of toasted nuts, molasses, mild licorice, and some dark fruit sweetness. A well balanced Imperial Stout.

Nice and muddy dark brown, albeit without much head. the aroma is deep, fruitiy with an almost cedary spiciness. The body is fairly full, though that only makes it moderate by modern impy standards. The flavours are rich and roasty with an underlying fruitiness. Dry, woody, hoppy finish with a healthy amount of roast and some alcohol late.

Mid black with a big frothy tan head that retains well.
Nose is roast malt, molasses, dark treacle toffee, cocoa powder, brown sugars.
Taste comprises, dark roast malts, touch of booze, chocolate, dark treacle toffee, light soapy notes.
Full bodied, soft carbonation, pitched perfectly, makes for fairly effortless drinking of such a big beer!
Overall a more than decent offering, looks great, feels great, the flavour profile is solid enough - the alcohol is well disguised and the feel on the palate is first rate. I’d take this one again any day!

Bottle, 10%. Very dark brown with tiny head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel and bread. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, bread, medium sweet, dusty, hop, little liquorice and a little bitter.

Bottle from Beverages 4 Less in Santee, CA. Pours really dark black with a 3 finger creamy beige/tan head. Aroma is like dark grape/pear/apple or something of that sort. Flavor is very fruity. There is a smokey burnt malt flavor, with pear skin. I’m not getting coffee, let alone espresso. But the pear is like astringent skin. The head is going heavily into ring lacing. How did they get a fruity IS? Our cousins are very experienced? Anyway, really good ale.
