Bottle of I’m guessing 2012 vintage, bottle #53196 purchased at Ale Wine & Spirits. Dark brown pour with a thick tan head. Aroma of malt, raisin, chocolate, creamy vanilla and light roast. Malty and raisiny flavor with some alcohol before a chocolatey and roasty finish. Different, and pretty nice.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - MAY 19, 2013
My Bottom Line:
This dessert of an Imperial Stout joins prunes, milk chocolate, roasted cereals and caramel, leading them to a heavy yet harmonious finish.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A slim slice of foam garnishes the darkness.
-This lacks hop character in the finish (for my tastes in the style).
-Carbonation is rather low, which makes the sweetness feel heavier.
-The nose is very expressive and predicts the sweet onslaught.
-Unripe pears also appear in the flavor profile.
Bottle.

Traded bottle with a best before date, 19/09/24, sometime after my youngest would graduate college. I’ll be honest, I thought this would be a little lackluster just because it is comes from just a large producer but this was really tasty. Lots of coffee and bitter chocolate. Maybe a touch boozey but good overall.

Average head, not creamy at all. Sturdy body with smoke and floral tones. Dark roast coffee in the flavor, and a good portion of hops. Gives a fresher impressions than Guinness.
