Pours black with a 1 finger, creamy tan head. Interesting aroma, oily roast, dark chocolate and coffee seem normal to the style, but there are big notes of berries and tree fruit that seem odd, but not necessarily out of place, some dark fruit, roasted nuts, lots of herbal hops and dried cattails. Flavor has lots of oily roast up front, overdone croissant, dark caramel, roasted nuts, sweet tree fruit, earthy, tobacco, campfire smoke, bittersweet chocolate chips, molasses and hints of licorice and warm pie spices. More dark fruit and spice come out as it warms. Heavy body with a creamy entry, oily middle, dry, somewhat astringent finish and light, sharp carbonation. Nice, no-razzamatazz Impy stout. It’s awesome, and very complex, without needing adjuncts or special aging vessels to achieve it.

Bottle. Thanks Nimrod R. 2012. Murky dark brown. Raisin and cocoa powder aroma, bitter and tons of cocoa, dry, powdery. Full body, rich, some dry fruit finish. Great beer.

Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of malts, chocolate, coffee, faint fruits, lactose and fudge. Taste of chocolate fudge, lactose, espresso, roasted malts, faint fruits and slightly smoky. Full bodied, soft carbonation, roasted bitterness on the finish, well balanced.

Pitch black, big brown head. Lots of chocolate in the aroma, some booze and cocoa. Chocolate liquor taste, alcohol, thickness and oilyness. Creamy, medium body, soft carbonation. Yes, very good. //bottle at Craft Room

275ml bottle (2012 vintage) at home on 7th April 2016. Poured into ’Gordons’ thistle shaped glass, it is very, very dark, the head a wispy light tan colour. Rich, smooth and boozy with coffee and dark chocolate esters oozing through the brew, raisin like flavours abound with a wild berry undertone. Very drinkable.

2012 bottle. Pours an inky black with small tan head. Tiny lacing with a slick glass feel. Nose is light roast, chocolate, some hop character, dry fruit. Palate is similar, chocolate, some fruit. No booze. Very balanced. I’m not crazy about this but a nice drinker.

Bottle, 2012 vintage. Black pour with a small light-brown head. Aroma is rich chocolate, some sweet and dark cocoa notes, hints of dark fruit and bread. Tastes like an aged RIS, some nice chocolate, no heat or booziness yet rich and tasty, hints of raisin and coffee. Mostly wanted to try this for the story and the sake of checking it off, but wow, quite tasty.
