Taste starts with coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted aftertaste. Nice but with the high ABV I would expect more taste and complexity.

Teriyaki sauce with French Roast coffee, thick, dark with no head to speak of. Nearly flat but a hint of effervescence in the throat. Shoyu, over ripe dark plums, warm alcohol, sweet with traces of burnt toast. I like this and will certainly score a few more.

Deep black pour with very little tan head. Dried fruit, coffee, chocolate, burnt caramel aromas. Big dark chocolate and coffee flavours, boozy warmth, thick, almost oily body, long dark choc finish.

275ml bottle. (2012 Vintage) Pours an opaque black with sediment and a small, short lived, tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit, licorice, dark chocolate and alcohol. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, licorice, dried fruit, dark chocolate, soy sauce and warming alcohol with a dry, bitter coffee finish. Full body with a rich, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice.

2012 Vintage. Deep, dark brown in color. Thin tan head. Smoky, chocolate and coffee aroma. Taste is sweet dark chocolate, bitter, earthy. Finishes with lingering smokiness. Softly carbonated. Thick, creamy, slightly oily texture. Full body. Delicious

Bottle@hotel, from Vintner Wine Market, NYC, USA. Strong sweet malty aroma of licorice and coffee. Pitch black color with minimal beige head. Strong taste with licorice, plum, coffee and some roasted sweeter malts. Semi balanced with medium taste spectrum and long sweet’n’malty aftertaste. Strong body with low/medium carbonation. Overall, basic but high quality IS. More balancing and body would make this perfect one.

A vicious Russian Imperial Stout from the U.K.. They say it was made for Katherine the Great. I’ll believe them.

Aroma - heavy roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit elements. Some alcohol. Appearance - dark black color with an average frothy and creamy. There is some good lacing. Taste - sweet dark chocolate and roast, there is some licorice as well. Palate - full body, texture is sticky, carbonation is average, astringent roast finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2012 bottle (shelf), drunk 11/25/15.
Opened this at room temperature and it poured an ebony black with a dark tan head. Moderate retention, as the head eventually fades to cover. Clarity indeterminable, but I assume this is filtered.
Prunes, salted toffee, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla in the nose give a very true and classic rendition of the style. Like Harvey’s with some peanut brittle notes, tons of vinousness, light ash and well-controlled alcohol.
So I gotta admit, I was expecting a thin, filtered, fizzily-carbonated, mediocre beer. And I can’t help but say, this stuff is pretty god damned good. Rich flavors showcase a caramel and chocolate maltiness that is chewy and supple, despite being well-attenuated. Lovely prunes, cigars, raisins and salted toffee add tons of complexity and keep things dry but still add a wonderful bittersweet, lightly tart edge. Carbonation is low, but ample and not fizzy or seemingly force carbonated (though I’ve got to imagine it is). Espresso, prunes, cigars, salt and more fruitiness lingers long. Very impressed. Will be buying another bottle soon.

33cl bottle split at Paul’s 10k tasting in London. Many many thanks to the beerthday man for this one. It pours a dark brown color with minimal beige head. Aroma is muted with some booze and sweet raisin. Taste has booze raisins rum chocolate and dust. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, meh
