Taste starts with coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted aftertaste. Nice but with the high ABV I would expect more taste and complexity.

275 ml bottle at home. Black color with very nice one finger beige almost creamy head. roasted malty aroma of coffee (mostly) and chocolate, dark dried fruits, raisins, light hoppy. Taste is sweet and bitter, malty, like the aroma, coffee and dark sweet chocolate and dark fruits. Full body, almost creamy, soft carbonation, bitter chocolate and coffee and slightly alcoholic long finish.

"Holy friggin complexity batman!! Nutty, earthy, bitter, sweet, coffee, cocoa, dark fruit slightly smokey craziness. Nice beer! Slightly too much fizz and alcohol showing in the finish are the only faults, and they are minor. Really nice impy :). Russian, yet distinctly English."

Bottle. 2012 Edition. Dark pour. Aroma of chocolate, espresso, and dark fruits. Flavor is a complex mix of dark fruits, pear, and some coffee. Beer is a lot fruitier than most if not all Imperial Stouts I have had.

ghendrix (112) - Cardiff, WALES - AUG 30, 2014
2012 vintage. Pours deep reddish brown with good beige head, reduced to thin lacing. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, dark fruits, fruit cake, roasted malt, liquorice. Taste is medium bitter and medium sweetness. Alcohol is well masked. Finish is long and ends with bitter roasted malts and coffee, and warmth from alcohol. Nice heavy body and smooth mouth that you’d expect from this brew. Lovely.
