[Cask at Court Avenue] Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is big on coconut, lots of cherry sweetness as it warms. Oak. Not bad. Taste is very nice. Coconut, cherry, chocolate, roasted malt, and some alcohol. Borders on too much barrel, but for the most part still works. Odd herbal notes in the finish, and lots of oak too. Got a little boozy after awhile. Medium-thin mouthfeel, smooth, and a long finish. Dial back the barrel a touch, and this could be really good.

On cask at the brew pub. The beer pours a dark black-ish color with a very small head that pretty much dissipated as the waitress set the glass down. The aroma is very earthy and woodsy not unlike a robust red wine. Some mild roastiness and plenty of bourbon show up in the aroma as well. The flavor is lots of bourbon, plenty of woody and corky notes with some light fruity cherry notes, a nice roastiness, some booziness and a nice light tartness. The beer maintains that earthy character from the aroma throughout despite the fact that it’s mostly dominated by bourbon flavor. Enjoyable.
