COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A blend of Belgian style dubbel and a Flemish brown ale, fermented with raspberries. Dark malt and cereal notes are characteristics of the dubbel, while the vinous, acidic elements come from the Flemish. Complex, tart and refreshing, a fruit beer, for beer drinkers (contains wheat).

Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin off white head. Aroma is seedy raspberry, hay, a bit of chocolate and sweet malt. Flavor is more seedy raspberry, light acidity, dark wheat, a touch of dry chocolate and earth. Palate is medium bodied, moderately carbonated and has a fairly dry feel throughout. Not bad overall, but like most raspberry beers it tastes as much like raspberry seeds as raspberry flesh.

on tap-pours amber with an offwhite head. Aroma is raspberry, medium malt. Taste is raspberry, medium malt-some roasty. Towards medium body.

On tap. Poured a dark amber color with virtually no head, looked more like wine than beer. Suprising taste, reminded me of a chocolate covered raspberry. I wouldn’t want to drink a bunch of these but one was good.

[On-tap at Court Avenue] Pours...well to be honest, it is so dark at the bar that it is hard to say. I think it was dark reddish brown, but I’m not positive. Either way, there was virtually no head. Aroma is weak, with light fruitiness and some wheat. Taste has some yeast, raspberry shows up, but not great--light acidity is there, but not the actual fruit taste. Lots of wheat, some oxidation shows up. Not very sour, and the dubbel doesn’t seem to show through much either. Malt is unusual, I generally describe it as dusty, even though that is a pretty poor descriptor. Medium-thin mouthfeel, finish length is average. A little disappointing--neither of the base beers show through, and combine to form a below average beer.

Deep hazy red light brown body. It has a large khaki head. The nose is sweet with the raspberries and hints of tart. There is also some black tea. The taste is black tea with hints of caramel. There is just a whiff of the dry raspberries. This is strange and dry. Barely any fruit character.

On tap @ Court Avenue. Reddish amber appearance with an off white head. Slight red fruity with a darkish Belgian ale aroma. Raspberry, light tartness with light candy sugar Belgian ale flavor. Not very impressive. It sounds like a weird blend anyways.

Tap. Semi hazy dark amber pour with a clingy white head. Mild sour raspberry on the nose. Taste is a nice combo of sour and Belgian yeast, with a little fig in there. Easy drinking. Nice.

100th Iowa rating, whoot! Pours a hazy burgundy color with a medium head. The aroma is fresh raspberries with some earthiness and some sweet maltiness. The flavor is very good, earthy with plenty of tartness. There is a lot of raspberry flavor but not in a cloying way they work really well with the earthiness. There is some alcohol & the beer is generally dry. Really nice stuff.
